8-20-10 Friday

Love the comments!

Status: 8.0/10. An OK day, although it seems like it’s been a week since yesterday morning.

Events:  At Hopkins most of the day for red cells.  Lab results were great!  My marrow is kicking into gear – white cells at 1,000, neutrophils at 500.  Given my previous experience that should accelerate over the next week.  If we can keep my platelets up, I’ll be in good shape.

Comments:   Yes, I’ve been over a few bumps in the road, but as they say, failure isn’t getting knocked down, it’s not getting back up.  Even my oncologist said, “You keep bouncing back.”  I look forward to feeling well again (takes a while to start feeling good after being poisoned).  Back to Hopkins early in the morning for protective platelets and then hopefully a quiet weekend.  Hope you have one, too.

It sounds like yesterday was more than bumpy, more like a sinkhole!! If it feels like a week since yesterday, you have put some very good distance between then and now. By the way the Lifeline system (medical dispatcher) now has a GPS product, push a button and no matter where you are, they know who you are and how to find you. A little scary really, but great for very mobile people. Hope you never need it but our parents might.

B-during the most difficult time in my life. Hopie was known for saying she could tell how much better I was doing by how much more quickly I was bouncing back… Here’s to a really BIG Bounce for you and all those around you who have struggled with you…Hard to be with someone you love and feel pretty helpless…. I’m praying for a very special vacation to recoup… for all…. love those platelets and your oncologist for recognizing you’re a winner…. You have a destiny to fulfill…. love wendy
