11-11-10   Thursday  Day +15

Status: 8.0/10. Improvement in mouth pain and swallowing.

Events:   I could tell my white count was up this morning in just how much better my mouth felt.  It had shot up to 130!  Quite a bit from the normal 5,000 to 10,000 range, but looks like my marrow is growing.  And they’re keeping me on my antibiotics until my counts are normal as well.

Comments:  Lisa was up here today.  Although I slept my way through most of her visit – it was a comfort just having her a few feet away.

Looking for a nominal 15 more days to go to IPOP and then 30 more to go home.  Keeping our fingers crossed.

If we could spread Scott’s turf builder on your platelets, we would, Bruce! It’s encouraging, to hear an uptick in the little critters, and to suspect they may be making you a smidge more comfortable. Good! Thinking of you, continuing to welcome your updates — and sending you all our best healing wishes. -Bill and Eileen

I’m so glad you’re improving. Time will go by faster once you can swallow easily. If I lived closer I’d bring some lokshen kugel that would snap your new marrow into playing by the RULES!

Go, Graft, Go! I’m amazed how soon you are getting a measurable number of white cells back. And your mouth is feeling better, too. Your entire course reminds me a bit of The Odyssey–one bad thing after another. But in the end, the hero makes it home to his kingdom and his queen. May it also be so with you. Joel S.
